Hey, Allegany County, get ready to celebrate big! America’s 250th birthday is here and we’re throwing the ultimate party on July 4th at Canal Place in downtown Cumberland at 11:30 AM.
Come chug through the mountains on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s Freedom Train. Then grab the kids and jump on the Ice Cream Train departing at 5, 6, and 7 PM. Be a part of history and we dedicate a Liberty Tree and bury a time capsule. Listen to fascinating stories about our region’s history from local historians. Enjoy fireside chats, public art projects, tasty food trucks, a beer garden, and fun activities for all ages.
Throughout the day, Appalachian and folk musicians will get your toes tapping and feet dancing until our 9:00 PM. grand finale, celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday with an amazing fireworks extravaganza.
